Two months old

Sweet Gray turned two months on July 18th. I thought that Saylor was an easy baby, but so far, he has her beat. He is just pretty laid back and content to go with the flow. He doesn't cry too much, and the only times I have heard him really scream is when he gets shots - otherwise it's more of a sweet little whimper. Here's what he's up to at 2 months old:

Eats six times per day - around 7, 10, 1, 4, 7, and 10 - although this can vary quite a bit. We do one bottle a day, which he'll sometimes protest but generally takes it ok in the end.

He's sleeping at night from after his dreamfeed until about 7 a.m. Sometimes he starts stirring around five or six a.m. but usually will put himself back to sleep. We swaddle him and he is more into the paci than Saylor ever was, but still only wants it sometimes. I really haven't kept track of his day time sleep - he just sleeps about an hour and 15 minutes after he wakes up - in his crib if we're at home or in his car seat if we're on the go. I know this will probably have to get more structured as he gets older but I'm just enjoying it for the moment!

He likes to lay on his play mat and look at the toys dangling above him and he loves to watch the monkey on his bouncy seat. He's starting to track us visually (if we're close enough for him to see), and lifts his head and pushes with his little legs (especially in the evenings when he seems to be most alert and awake). And, best of all he gives us these huge, lop-sided grins that just completely melt my heart. :)

We thought he would for sure be off the charts size-wise at his two month check up but he's only 97th percentile for weight and 90th for height. :) Looks like he's going to be a big boy (surprise)!

We sure love this little guy!

Supper Club Kiddos

Our monthly supper club started out several years ago with NO kids - now we've got 8! Here they are (minus sweet Matthew). Now supper club nights are pretty much chaos but it's still so much fun and we can always count on a delicious meal and great (albeit interrupted) conversation. :)

My heart is breaking for the country of Norway today. The one place left in the world that was completely safe, peaceful, and free from crazy stuff...until yesterday.

Two and a half

Saylor is officially two and a half as of July 5th. Here are some things to remember about her at this age:

She is:
Curious, outgoing, full of energy, full of questions, incredibly active, almost never stops talking unless she is asleep, loves to sing and make up songs, likes to read, paint, swim, eat, loves to be with people, remembers anything you tell her, loves to laugh and be funny, and loves her baby brother.

She has a little routine for everything we do (bedtime, bath time, getting into the car, while I'm getting ready in the mornings, while I'm nursing Gray, etc.) It's fun to watch her anticipate and narrate the routine to me as it occurs.

She is fully potty trained (although we still wear pull ups at night time because I am not yet ready to tackle this) and she has gotten pretty independent with going potty while we are at home.

She sleeps from about 8 p.m. (this varies a lot) to 7 a.m. and naps for about 1.5 hours around 1 p.m. (Although she won't nap at school this summer). She is still a pretty light sleeper and often wakes up in the night.

Her favorite foods include: fruit snacks, popsicles, strawberries, blueberries, grapes, oranges, yogurt, milk, broccoli, cooked carrots, cheese, hot dogs, and salmon.

We most definitely have our fair share of "terrible two" moments at this age (bossing, whining, tantrums, etc), but next thing you know she'll turn around and be so incredibly good and sweet. She is starting to be quite helpful to me around the house at times, even! She still lets us cuddle her and snuggle when we tuck her into bed which I love.

I almost cried today when we put Gray in the bumbo for the first time...how can he be big enough for it already?!?!?
