Potty Training - Gray

The day after Thanksgiving we hunkered down to start our second round of 3 day potty training. (It is much harder to find 3 days not to leave the house when you have another, older sibling around! But thankfully, with Matt's help, we were able to do it).

Gray really did a great job. We are about one week out now, and though he is still having some accidents and we are still doing lots of reminders, he picked up on it quickly overall.

We started the day off by having G throw away his diapers (which we retrieved when he wasn't looking) and he got to open all his big boy undies.  The fact that our son is OBSESSED with most animated characters really worked in our favor. Between his Thomas/Buzz/Woody/Lightning McQueen, etc. underwear, pullups, and potty seat, this is really more like Christmas for him than any actual work. Ha!

Here are he and Saylor checking out his new stuff

We basically spent the first couple days pumping him with liquids and running to the potty. He was very excited! He struggled at lot with having any concept of holding it, so we were running to the potty a LOT! But after two days, we felt brave enough to venture out for a dinner at Chuys. We did spend a great deal of our time there with either Matt or me running him to the potty, but he stayed dry!

Goldmine! We are putting pull ups on for nap and bedtime, and this part was actually one of the hardest parts. He was really confused the first few days about it being OK to pee in these. So consequently, he wouldn't sleep! Thankfully now I think he has it figured out.

Here he is showing his muscles! What a big boy! :)
He looks so cute in underwear! It still feels a tiny bit sad to see him like this instead of in diapers. Sniff!

 Proud of himself!
Here he is picking his M&M which he got as a reward every time he got something in the potty.
He was more motivated, however, by 5 minutes on the ipad, which we started letting him do once he had no accidents 5 times in a row.
It was so much easier this time around since I wasn't 8 months pregnant (like I was with Saylor). Thank goodness! Gray has also not had the difficulty with #2 that I remember Saylor having, so that is a plus. He still has issues if he is really engrossed in something, like the other day when he peed all over the pantry floor while he was looking for a snack. yuck!

I am proud of him, and big sister for all her help. And I am REALLY thankful for my awesome husband who totally stepped up to the plate and was super involved and on board with this. I remember feeling the same way with Say.

And just like that, we OFFICIALLY have no more babies.
