Have you ever noticed that hard things seem to come in waves? Or that it cycles through or something? Like, you have one or two friends or family members who are dealing with really hard things in their life (really hard) and then you hear of another, and another and another. Until finally it seems like it's sort of all around you. Cancer, Alzheimers, surgeries gone wrong, miscarriage, or, like today, a pregnant friend's water breaking way to early and being rushed to the hospital unexpectedly. And the list goes on. For some reason, these things just seem to weigh heavier during certain times of life, but the older I get, the faster they seem to come and the slower they are to let up.
Our paster preached on suffering last week and it was REALLY good. Something he knows a bit about, considering he has a malignant brain tumor. Such an important message that I know doesn't erase the pain but does help put things in perspective and reminds that through it all, God is good and sovereign, and there is hope.
